The first “YerevanTARAZfest” has been held in Yerevan

Yerevan Municipality jointly with “Teryan” cultural center initiated the first “Yerevan TARAZfest” event which is a large-scale ethnographic event included in “Yerevan summer 2015” three-month program. Thousands of Yerevanians and guests of the capital took part in the event.
Yerevan Deputy Mayor Aram Sukiasyan was present at the first festival “Yerevan TARAZfest” too. Greeting those present he thanked all the participants for assisting in the organization of the fest.
“Nowadays many young people return to their roots, to what their ancestors created, try to resemble them and to differ from other nations. I welcome your initiative and believe that everyone would find in this action something that is national and satisfies their taste”, said Aram Sukiasyan.
The companies participating in the event were represented in 11 separate pavilions placed in Northern Avenue. Yerevan History Museum displayed the collection of the copies of national garments (Taraz) representing Yerevan and different historical and ethnographic districts of historical Armenia (author-Knarik Nersisyan), as well as presented historical episodes and archive photos referring to them. Megerian Carpet Museum was also represented in a separate pavilion where they presented the national ornaments common for carpets and costumes, their meaning and symbols.In the pavilion of photo Atelier Marashlyanthe visitors who wants to have their pictures taken dressed in national costumes could take the images of the 18-19 centuries in national garments. “Bow-X” company presented the collection ofbow-ties designed with national ornaments, “Anahit Simonyan” fashion studio presented the collection of clothes ornamented with national symbols, pictures of monuments, places of interests; “Nani Zani” dolls presented their works in national costumes. “Art and Legend” company which makes souvenirs with the assistance of the dwellers of frontier villages also took part in the event. “Atex” fashion centre and some individual creators, handicraft masters took part in the event.
“Yerevan TARAZfest” was followed by a concert program: ethnographic dance and song groups, as well as “Milen” show-ballet, “Mikael Voskanyan and friends” ethno-jazz band showed their performances.
The core of the event was fashion show, consisted of two Armenian designers /Aram Nikolyan and Teryan Cultural Center/ who presented their collections of National Garment.
