Mayor’s visit to St Petersburg

Accompanied by their Saint Petersburg colleagues the members of Yerevan delegation visited Piskaryovskoye memorial complex to pay memory tribute to the victims of the Siege of Leningrad as well as to the Armenians fallen during the defense of this city.

The meeting of Yerevan and Saint Petersburg leaders was held in the Smolny Palace, the official residence of the city’s administration.
The extended meeting was followed by the ceremony of signing the five-year cooperation program. Saint Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov and Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan signed the road map of the cooperation program for 2021-2025.

The visit also involved various directions of the city economy. Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan visited a number of structures engaged in the city management, familiarized himself with the activities.
This is the centre of the “Safe City” unified management of Saint Petersburg. It provides the security of the city’s infrastructures via analyzing the phone calls received on the hot line and the information received from 45 thousand cameras installed in the city, to register emergency situations and accidents. Mayor Hayk Marutyan was presented the activity of the urban transport management centre.

The problem of collecting stray animals from the streets, their treatment and adoption has been solved by the state vet clinic working in Saint Petersburg since 2006. During the visit the Mayor familiarized himself with the facilities and technical possibilities of this body.
Since 2019 Yerevan has been taking certain steps to regulate the sphere. Hayk Marutyan outlined the importance of establishment of ties and experience exchange between “The Centre for Neutralization of Stray Animals” SNCO of Yerevan and the State Veterinary Clinic of Saint Petersburg.

One of the best examples of the friendly relationship between Yerevan and Saint Petersburg is the bond with the Hermitage. Mayor Marutyan had a meeting with the director of the State Hermitage Museum, the Honorary Citizen of Yerevan Mikhail Piotrovski.

The friendly and partner relations between Yerevan and Saint Petersburg will be developing in accordance with the road map of cooperation in the fields of trade and economy, science and technology, culture and some other spheres.
The next mutual visit is planned in Yerevan. Mayor Marutyan invited Governor Beglov to pay an official reciprocal visit to Yerevan.
