Mosaic of dragon carpet of 16th century has been opened in Yerevan
При With the assistance of Yerevan Municipality, “Megeryan carpet” company opened the mosaic of a dragon carpet (Vishapagorg) in the area near Swan Lake. Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan was present at the solemn opening of the mosaic made of colourful and semi-precious stones. The mosaic is made of approximately 900 thousand pieces of stones such as marble,granit,azurite, tuff-sandstone.
In his speech the president of “Megeryan carpet” company Raffi Megeryan expressed gratitude to Yerevan Mayor for permanent assistance in the implementation of the programs of the company and stressed that this initiative of the municipality is one more opportunity to present the Armenian cultural heritage.
Yerevan Mayor’s Assistant, Yerevan Chief Designer Gaga Amatuni in his turn noted that this initiative is another succeeded example of the cooperation of Yerevan Municipality with private sector which will be long-term.
It should be noted that the design of the carpet was taken from the original dragon carpet of the 16th century which is kept at London History Museum.
