«Vahe Karapetyan Center of AGBU» was opened in the capital
President Serzh Sarsgayn together with Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan was present at the opening ceremony of «Vahe Karapetyan Center of AGBU» in Kanaker-Zeytun district of the capital. The opening was performed by the Presidents of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) Perch Sedrakyan and by the founder of the center, American Armenian philanthropist Vahe Karapetyan.
The building of «Vahe Karapetyan Center of AGBU» occupied the area of 5000 sq m is at Zakaria Kanakertsi 1, in Yerevan and was granted to the AGBU by Vahe Karapetyan. The center is to be used as the center and bridge for the mission of the AGBU aimed at development and strengthening of the ties between homeland and Diaspora, its broadening activities, as well as for the implementation of Armenia-centralized programs making the ties between the youth living in Diaspora and in Armenia tighter. Various youth, cultural and educational events, conferences and meetings will be organized here.
The center will also host hundreds of young people from Diaspora who take part in various summer programs implemented by the AGBU.
Within the frames of opening the center the AGBU rewarded Vahe Karapetyan with the title of the philanthropist-member of the Union. He was also awarded with the Golden Medal of the AGBU.
