One of the most popular and awaited event held within the frames of the three-month program of events, 4th Yerevan Beer Fest, has started in the capital. Yerevan Mayor’s Assistant Maria Baraghamyan and the head of tourism division of the Municipality Gevorg Orbelyan were present at the event.
The event opened with the greeting speech of Yerevan Mayor’s Assistant Maria Baraghamyan. After announcing the festival open the pavilions started to work.
“Yerevan Beer Fest is aimed at introduction of Armenian beer traditions to the public as well as to unite the companies engaged in beer production on one platform hoping that years later Yerevan Beer Fest will become one of the best tourism events in the region and beyond it and many people will visit Yerevan to enjoy it”, said Yerevan Mayor’s Assistant Maria Baraghamyan.
“Yerevan Municipality attaches importance to the events with tourism component such as Yerevan Beer Fest due to which the number of tourists visiting Yerevan is increasing from year to year”, said the head of Yerevan Municipality division of tourism Gevorg Orbelyan.
At the beginning of the festival rope walker Hovsep Beglaryan showed a trick with beer mugs and a German company shot the trick as they were making a film about Armenian national traditions. During the fest the member of Union of Philatelists of Armenia Robert Hakobyan is going to present an interesting exhibition. And the participants of the fest will have the opportunity to be photographed in the pavilion of the cultural center Teryan.
This year a number of beer factories traditionally were represented in separate pavilions. Among them were “Yerevan beer” factory, “Gyumri” and “Alexandrapol” factories, ‘Kotayk” beer factory, “Beer Academia” factory-restaurant, pub “Yankee”, Czech pub-restaurant “Karloff”, Armenian crayfish-lovers federation, “BeerMania” pub-café. ‘Alaverdi” and “Dilijan” beer factories “Wild West” and “Barel” pubs presented their assortment of beer and snacks at the 4th Yerevan Beer Fest for the first time. The event is followed by the live performance of “Alexandropol” band,DJ Leo and “Milen” dance group.
It should be noted that the tourism division set a special rule according to which the participating companies will sell beer in non glass containers and at lower price, as well as it will be forbidden to sell beer to those who are under age. During the event 2-3 contests will be held in each pavilion such as fastest drinker, drinking through a straw, decide on sausages flavor, fastest peanut pealing fastest crayfish eating and so on. The winners will get presents from Yerevan Municipality tourism division and participating companies.
According to the organizers, this year about 10 000 visitors are expected at the fest.
It should be reminded that Yerevan Beer Fest, after the festivals “Yerevan with flair and “Yerevan TARAZfest” is the third big event with tourism component and it has already become very popular not only with townspeople and with numerous tourists.
