Yerevan Deputy Mayor David Ohanyan took part in the opening of the 25th season of the “Charity kitchen” functioning in Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district with the support of German Red Cross Baden-Wurttemberg organization. The Ambassador of the German Federative Republic to Armenia Mathias Kiecsler, the representative of German Red Cross Baden-Wurttemberg organization Carl-Heinz Shaide, the governor of German Ostalb district Klaus Pavel, the head of Yerevan Municipality Department of Social Welfare Ruzanna Zakaryan.
Greeting those present and the program beneficiaries David Ohanyan stressed that due to “Charity kitchen” the problem of social significance had been solved for hundreds needy people. The representative of the German Red Cross Baden-Wurttemberg organization, priest Carl-Heinz Scheide attached importance to the role of Yerevan Municipality in the implementation of this project.
At the end of the event the guests planted a symbolic fir-tree in the yard of the center.
It should be noted that with the co0financing of Yerevan Municipality this charity program has been held for 25 years already and nearly 500 elderly, lonely and needy citizens from Kanaker-Zeytun, Erebuni, Kentron, Nork-Marash administrative districts including 80 Syrian Armenians make use of the kitchen getting a hot meal once a day. The beneficiaries of the program make use of other social services provided due to “House of Hope” center. “Children’s food” and “Home care” subprograms are also implemented in the capital within “Charity kitchen” program.
