“We should change our behavior if we want to have a clean city”: Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan takes part in all-republican clean-up
Since early morning Yerevan has joined the all-republican Saturday clean-up action. Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan and the RA Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Gnel Sanosyan participated in the action together with numerous citizens, representatives of state and private organizations, members of the Council of Elders.
According to the Mayor, the cleanness of Yerevan leaves much to be desired and one clean-up action can’t solve the problem. The city authorities are going to carry out clean-ups every Saturday in each administrative districts. Currently the community has 500 cleaners, however if people go on littering streets it will be impossible to get positive results.
During the clean-up action the city authorities provided all participants with all necessary appliances and tools to clean and remove the garbage afterwards. The trash removing trucks were involved in the process as well.
The process was organized in accordance with a special plan throughout the country. Each establishment knew the spot where they were to carry out the process.
The RA TAI Minister stressed, “Instead of working enthusiastically during such clean-up actions we’d better keep the environment clean throughout the year and with the same enthusiasm. Unfortunately, we have problem with considering public areas to be ours. However, such clean-up the environment actions help to spread the idea of keeping it clean, and I hope the time will come when such clean-up actions won’t be needed”.
“We should change of behavior, out attitudes. Otherwise, such actions will always give only temporary result. We should simply love out city not only in words or Facebook comments but with our routine and behavior”, stressed the Mayor.
The statues and monuments were washed during the action as well.
