Mushakan Residential Quarter to Have Sewage System: in 2023 14 km of Sewage and Drainage Systems to Be Constructed in Yerevan in 2023
Musahakan residential quarter in Erebuni district has a population of about 1600 people. This area has never had a drainage system. For many years residents used to solve the problems by themselves. The residents had raised the problem for years but no solution was found.
Yerevan Municipality has initiated the construction of a new sewage of 4,6 km which will make it possible to completely solve the problem. The head of Yerevan Municipality Department of Building and Improvement Khoren Grigoryan informed that the program of construction of the sewage from scratch is financed by the government. Its cost is approximately 240 million drams. The completion of the construction is scheduled for the end of the year.
Reconstruction of old sewage systems is going on in the city as well. In 2020-2022, 11 km of sewage and drainage pipes was reconstructed. This year’s volumes are of about 14 km.
Yerevan Mayor’s Advisor Kamo Areyan informed that the city authorities are repairing 12 km of sewage pipes at 26 locations. While making up the project they considered the level of damage and residents’ demand. The second program is implemented by Veolia Jur company, which is to repair 1,4 km at 10 locations.
The intra-city sewage system is of 1200 km, 80% of which needs repairing. Modernization of the network requires significant investments as the community finances are not enough. The city authorities made up a program package and are going to submit it to the government
Yerevan development should be aimed at the creation of comfortable environment for residents. The problems rooted for years are gradually getting their solutions.
