Program of events “New Year in Yerevan 2018” has been presented

During the meeting with journalists Yerevan Deputy Mayor Aram Sukiasyan presented the program of events “New Year in Yerevan 2018”.

Deputy Mayor informed that this year the events included in the program are starting earlier than usual. On December 8, at 19:00 the solemn opening of the “Swan Lake” ice-rink season is to be held. The school of figure skating of Irina Rodnina will be working every day during the winter months.
Deputy Mayor also informed that the main festive events are starting on December 19, at 19:30 in Republic square where the lights of the main New Year Tree and the festive illumination of the capital will be turned on.
On December 31, from 22:00 till 01:00 of January 1, Yerevan Municipality will organize the festive program “New Year Night” in Republic square for townspeople and guests of the capital., and at midnight the bright firework will announce the beginning of the new year.
“This year the festive program will be enriched with new special events. For the first time, January 1,2,nd 3 will be full of festive events for townspeople and guests of the capital. Exciting program has been planned for children and grown-ups in Azatutyan square. Special festive route of the official tourist program of “Yerevan City Tour” will be functioning from Republic square fro December 20”, said Aram Sukiasyan.
On January 6, the concert program “Christmas in Yerevan” will be organized jointly with the Ararat Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Festive events will be organized in all administrative districts as well. The New Year events will be finished in the capital with a festive concert in Azatutyan square on January 13, at 19:00.
From 2 till 7 of January, from 11:00 to 17:00 Yerevan museums will be open for visitors: Yerevan History Museum, Modern Art Museum, historical and archaeological reserve-museum “Erebuni”, as well as a number of museums subordinated to the RA Ministry of Culture.
Aram Sukiasyan said that the residents of the capital will be handed out information booklets with the program of festive events. Like last year, the section of “Useful information” will provide particularly guests of the capital with the information on entertainment areas and food courts which will be working from January 1.
Special place is the program of events is given to the social component within the frames of which needy families will get necessary assistance.
“Prior to the New Year 23 thousand needy families will be provided with food packages. Fro about 40 thousand children special presents have been prepared. Besides, 4000 children will visit municipal theaters to watch New Year performances free of charge”, said Aram Sukiasyan.
