New level and volumes of landscaping in Yerevan

Currently, a new irrigation system is being constructed to make it possible to restore the green zone located in the surroundings of Saralanji street.
The head of Construction and Improvement Department of the Municipality of Yerevan Grigor Harutyunyan informed that the irrigation network includes a water basin made of concrete the surface of which is 24 sq m and the depth is 2.20 m.
The construction developers added that there will be a pump station as well and a security service nearby. The pipes will distribute water from the pump station, then ramify into smaller pipes sprinklers. So dripping irrigation will be installed to save water and make the process more effective. Tree planting will be fulfilled in autumn.
The specialist of the Department of Nature Protection Gayane Nersisyan informed that various sorts of trees and bushes are to be planted in the area including evergreens and climbing plants. The specialists chose the sorts so as they bloom in turns.

Yerevan Municipality also sets a goal to restore the forest zone of Tsitsernakaberd.
Yerevan Deputy Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan informed that the total area of Tsitsernakaberd is 100 hectares and 8.5 of it is community-owned. They started the preparations in 2019. More than 100 trucks of building wastes were removed from here. A new irrigation system is to be installed as well. A separate body named “Landscaping and Environment Protection” was created and entrusted to solve ecological problems of Yerevan and landscaping of the city. Deputy Mayor noted that the previous year they had inventoried the existing problems, mapped the existing green areas. Currently, the irrigation systems are being renovated and modernized. The areas where irrigation systems work properly have been replenished with new trees and plants. Approximately 250 000 bushes and 800 trees were planted. Not irrigated areas will be temporally supplied with water by water trucks of “Yerevan Waste Removal and Sanitary Cleaning” community-owned company.
The company purchased some new equipment:80 mowers, 60 trimmers, 10 electric generators and some other units of special equipment necessary for proper care for green areas. The community-owned company responsible for landscaping and environment protection is going to submit new solutions. The company invites people who love nature and look for a job to join their staff.
Hrachya Sragsyan also informed that with the help of the company they are going to set an institutional approach to recycling.
The city authorities expect townspeople to be more caring for the environment, to preserve green zones, to keep surroundings clean so that the efforts taken by the community can be visible.
