The winners of the sport tournament between schoolchildren organized at the initiative of the Armenian community of Odessa and with the assistance of the benevolent foundation “Rainbow”, got a week-tour to Armenia reward. The Ukrainian delegation which also includes some Armenians is in Yerevan where some meetings and sport and cultural events have already been organized for them.
On July 29 the delegation visited Yerevan History Museum where they were met by the director of the museum Armine Sargsyan and the head of the division of sport and youth affairs of Yerevan Municipality Yuri Mamikonyan. In the foyer of the museum the head of the delegation, the president of the fund of cultural heritage of Odessa Armen Petoyan presented the book by the Ukrainian historian Yaroslav Dashkevich called “Armenians in the Ukraine”, which was written as a result of half-century research of the author dedicated to the life of Armenians in the Ukraine, their role in cultural life and other spheres of the country. Yerevan History Museum and the staffs of the administrative districts of Yerevan got one example of the book each. Afterwards the members of the delegation familiarized themselves with the samples on display at the museum. They were also briefly presented the history of Yerevan. The guests noted that they were impressed with the beauty of Yerevan and the warm welcome they got here.
