The 12th international film festival “Golden Apricot” has solemnly opened
The solemn ceremony of opening of the 12th international film festival “Golden Apricot” was held at the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet after A. Spendiaryan. Deputy Mayor David Ohanyan took part in the ceremony and together with the founder and general director of the festival Harutyun Khachatryan welcomed the guests.
Eminent figures of Armenian cinema and theater as well as distinguished movie figures from abroad walked along the red carpet to the hall. The honorary guests of the 12th international film festival “Golden Apricot” were famous actresses Ornella Muti and Nastasya Kinski. This year the festival received 1600 applications from 105 countries. According to the organizers, the festival is becoming more and more famous throughout the world. “Numerous people from different countries brought good films and I believe, the audience will be satisfied. It’s difficult to hold a festival in summer, but Yerevan is a very beautiful city and Yerevanians are good-hearted people and host their guests warmly, so this festival is always successful. And we go on the festival with our general partners VivaCell, Yerevan Municipality, Ministry of Culture, RA Government and our numerous friends who help us organize the festival. Today the festival is very important as it’s not just a feast but also education, information and the wish to present Armenian cinematography to the world. I think, that “Golden Apricot” represents Armenia to the world as a cultured, interesting center where best films of the region and the world come together. The opening of the festival coincides with Vardavar feast and all our guests got a shower-bath today:both Ornella Muti and Nastasya Kinski. Our guests liked our traditions”, said festival’s general director Harutyun Khachatryan.
We’d like to remind that by “Yerevan summer 2015” program of Yerevan Municipality July 31 evening is dedicated to “Golden Apricot” festival, the selected films of which will be shown on the open-air screens at Swan Lake.
