“We need a subject that is fully responsible”: Contract with “Veolia Jur” company will be reconsidered
During the regular working meeting Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan referred to the problems caused by heavy rainfalls in the capital. It was reported that water accumulations were fixed at transport hubs, tunnels and streets. It should be noted that in accordance with the leasing contract, the company responsible for servicing the surface waters, drainage systems and rain pipes is “Veolia Jur”: the pipelines, manholes and rainwater wells.
The Mayor outlined that the situation needs urgent settlement. Townspeople’s complaints are addressed to the municipality. The government and the “Veolia Jur” company have to come to agreement. The city needs a company that will undertake the responsibility for all services referred to water supply and water discharge. The contract signed 10 years ago must be reconsidered and changed.
In accordance with the Mayor’s assignment, the drainage systems that need reconstruction or installation are being studied for already a month, and a relevant program will be offered.

Regarding the flooding happened at 45, Nor Aresh 57 street, it was reported that the developing company which undertook construction activities in the area on the basis of the permission given in 2022, damaged the headwall of the water pipe in that area which resulted in partial collapse of the headwall. The Department of Control instructed to study the situation and find out the causes of the occurrence.

Starting from the next week the Underground will be working till midnight instead of 23:00.

The deadline for the main activities related to the installation of the new ticket system which is carried out with “Telcell” company is May 14. The process is on its final stage.

Construction of new bus stops in Yerevan is under consideration. The new stops will be equipped with payment terminals and special screens for schedules. The first model is ready. After approval by the community, about 50 similar bus-stops will be constructed this year.

The tenders for 171 new buses and 15 trolleybuses have been held, the vehicles will be distributed within six months.

In parallel with the modernization of the external lighting network of Yerevan a new remote control system will be installed to make it possible to simplify the problems of control and safety, to see the accidents online and ensure rapid response.
