On organization of education of school-aged children arrived in Armenia as a result of Russian-Ukrainian conflict

The process of integration of students into general education is implemented in accordance with the “Procedure of involvement of school-aged children into education, organization of education of children involved in the process later than the established time, of the transfer from one educational institution to another and release” which was determined by the order N1640-N of the RA Ministry of Education and Science made on November 24, 2010.

In accordance with the mentioned above procedure, citizens of other countries, people with dual citizenship, people who are not citizens of the Republic of Armenia, as well as in case when one of the parents is a citizen of Armenia and the other belongs to one of the mentioned categories, the selection of the language for the student is carried out on their own. In any other case, when students’ parents are citizens of Armenia, the language of studies is Armenian.
Children of citizens of Armenia who attended schools from 1st to 4th grade in a foreign country and the studied were conducted in a foreign language can continue their education in Armenia in a relevant grade and the language of studies is Armenian in accordance with an individual curriculum. Those schoolchildren who studied in a foreign country for at least 5 years in a row in an educational establishment providing studies in a foreign language and whose parents are the RA citizens, can carry on their studies in the schools in Armenia which provide studies in a foreign language or have such classes.
There are a number of municipal schools in Yerevan which provide education in the Russian language: in Kentron district – schools NN7,8,55; in Erebuni district – N35, in Shengavit district- N 69; in Arabkir district – NN77,132; in Ajapnyak district – N122, in Avan district – N124, in Kanaker-Zeytun district – N147, in Nor Nork district – N 164, in Malatia-Sebastia district – N 176, in Davtashen district – N192. There schools have classes where the process of education is organized in Russian.
During the recent period, 34 pupils from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus were involved in the schools NN7, 20,35,69,77,78,106, 124, 132, 138,164. In particular, the education of 30 of them is organized in Russian classes, and 4 students attend Armenian classes.
Schoolchildren’s admission to schools is organized to ensure the continuity of their education and with the priority of children’s best benefit which is to ensure their integration into the environment and satisfaction of their educational needs.
