At the initiative of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan the parents of about 1200 servicemen serving in the frontier military units once again got the opportunity to visit their sons. Before departure of the buses the parents were wished a happy trip by Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan and the RA Deputy Minister of Defense David Tonoyan. The Mayor and the Deputy Minister talked to the parents in person.

The wish of thousands of citizens to be included in the list proves that this program is of great social significance and is really expected. it should be noted that due to the program started in 2013 more than 7000 parents have had the opportunity to visit their sons and to familiarize themselves with the conditions in which their sons serve.
“It has already become a tradition to make it possible for the parents of the servicemen from Yerevan serving in the frontier military units to visit their sons. The program is really awaited both by parents and the servicemen. This time we are sending about 1200 parents to visit their sons serving at the borders. It is a good chance for parents to familiarize themselves with the conditions provided for their sons. This initiative carried out by jointly by the RA ministry of Defense and the NKR Army of Defense will be continuing. Besides, as you know, in accordance with the agreement made with the Ministry of Defense, we not only send parents to military units but also give additional vacation to distinguished soldiers. Owing to these visits the ties between the army and the society is becoming stronger”, stressed the Mayor.

Taron Margaryan thanked the RA Ministry of Defense, the NKR Army of Defense as well as the Mayor of Stepanakert who assist in the implementation of the program. He also thanked the employees of the Road Police and health sphere who escort the servicemen's parents along the whole route. Yerevan Mayor also noted that this time in addition to the heads of Municipality departments the parents are accompanied by the heads of Avan, Ajapnyank and Nor Nork administrative districts.
The RA Deputy Minister of Defense David Tonoyan in his turn stressed the importance of realization of the program saying that first of all it's highly important for the soldiers serving at the frontier zone, who feel much more confident and encouraged after meeting with their parents.
“The RA Ministry of Defense attaches importance to this initiative of Yerevan Mayor. The ties between parents and their sons defending the front line are highly important and the more often such meetings are organized the better”, said David Tonoyan.
Expressing gratitude for providing the extension of this social program the parents of fixed-period servicemen noted that each of their visits really encourage their soldier sons. Mayor Taron Margaryan once again assured that Yerevan Municipality would go on being next to the servicemen from Yerevan and their parents.
