The opening of a new football pitch in Shengavit administrative district was marked with a symbolic football match. The team of Yerevan Municipality played a game against the team consisted of the residents of the building at 56A, Garegin Nzhdeh street.

The Municipality team involved Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan, the First Deputy Mayor Levon Hovhannisyan, the leader of “My Step” faction of Yerevan Council of Elders Armen Galjyan and the head of Shengavit district Razmik Mkrtchyan. The employee of Shengavit district administration Arsen Martirosyan played as a goalkeeper.
The friendly match ended 6:3 in favour of Yerevan Municipality team. However, the actual winners are the young residents of the area as they got the possibility to play football on a comfortable ground.
One more yard in Yerevan has become more convenient for the arrangement of recreation. The Mayor assured that the programs aimed at boosting sport life in the city will be continued.
“We should pay serious attention to sport development. The renovation of the sport school of Shengavit initiated last year is among the programs pursuing this goal. We are going to have 20 similar football fields in administrative districts, sport equipment is to be installed in yard areas as well. We want to encourage townspeople to take up sports and to lead an active lifestyle. As they say, Strong in Body, Strong in Mind. I am sure that joining our efforts we will reach the goal”, said Hrachya Sargsyan.
This year 3 sports ground will be constructed in Shengavit district.
