Taron Margaryan and Georgi Ugulava were present at the Sunday mass in the Armenian Apostolic church "Saint Echmiadzin" in Tbilisi
The delegation headed by Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan which arrived in Tbilisi with an official visit was in the Armenian Apostolic church "Saint Echmiadzin" in Tbilisi.
Together with the Mayor of Tbilisi Georgi Ugulava Taron Margaryan was present at the Sunday mass.
Greeting those present after the ceremony of liturgy the Patriarch of the Georgian Armenian Diocese His Eminence Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan expressed his gratitude to the two Mayors for the respect shown to the church and the Armenian community.
As the Patriarch of the Diocese assured the Armenian Apostolic church situated in the Armenian quarter of Havlabar is always full of people during the religious ceremonies and liturgies and the Mayors of Yerevan and Tbilisi also made sure of that.
Attaching special importance to the role and significance of the Armenian Apostolic church in preservation of Armenian identity among the emigrants in Diaspora Mayor Taron Margaryan in his turn thanked Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan for his zeal shown in the issue of unity the Armenians of Georgia and especially of Tbilisi.
The Mayor also noted that it is not so easy to keep the national culture and traditions fro the Armenians living in distance from their homeland event in a friendly country and from this point of view the role of church is invaluable.
Taking the opportunity the Mayor thanked his colleague for the kind regard shown to the Armenian community.
Taron Margaryan also assured that the Municipality of Yerevan is willing to support and assist within its powers the initiatives of the Georgian Armenian church directed at keeping the Armenian identity.
Afterwards the Mayor of Yerevan had a friendly conversation with the residents of Tbilisi participating in the liturgy.
