Taron Margaryan: “Signs on advertisement boards written in a foreign language shouldn't be bigger than the ones written in Armenian”

During the regular working conference in Yerevan City Hall Mayor Taron Margaryan referred to the issue of meeting the requirement of advertisement board and signs in the capital to be written in Armenian. In this regard the Department of External Design and Advertising, as well as the heads of 12 administrative districts were instructed to find appropriate legal solution to the problem in teamwork with the State Language Inspection.

“As a result the control carried out jointly with the State Language Inspection a number of entities have been disciplined however the results as not satisfactory. Signs on advertisement boards written in a foreign language shouldn't be bigger than the ones written in Armenian. Everything should be the other way around. It's necessary to take firm, rigid measures in this regard. The advertisement boards of the entities breaking the requirements of the law and not making corresponding changes even after warning are to be dismantled immediately”, stressed Taron Margaryan.
