Within the frames of “Erebuni-Yerevan 2798” celebration the festive event organized in the yard of the City Hall under the motto “Yerevan-the City of the Sun” was accompanied by the performances of popular singers who song about their beloved city. New songs were performed too. In his greeting speech addressed to townspeople who were present at the event, to the members of the delegations arrived in Yerevan on the event and to the guests Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan said the Yerevan is marking its regular anniversary with new achievements which had become possible due to caring and devoted attitude of the residents.

“Today the capital of all Armenians which has got enormous cultural, spiritual heritage is marking its 2798th anniversary. There are few cities which having centuries-old history at the same time are sustainably developing, making progress modern cities. We should state with pride that our ancient capital stays young, active, developing, presentable, walking with the pace of the times. And it is owing to our co-citizens, to those people who live and create with love and feeling of duty for the capital, with the desire not only to preserve what they have but to make it more beautiful and better and to hand down it to generations as well. Today it's our turn and we must go on doing our best so that future generations will get more improved and comfortable, flourishing and beautiful city.
From year to year the life in the capital is becoming more colourful and enriched being completed with such initiatives and projects which used to seem just a dream but today they have already become a tradition, an awaited and inseparable part of everyday life.
“Erebuni-Yerevan” is also a wonderful opportunity to get spiritual energy from our powerful ancestors, to fill ourselves with trust, love and respect for one another and to convey these positive energy to our dear capital. This day is not only the possibility to pass the warmth of our Sun City Yerevan to townspeople and the guests of the capital, but also the statement of the will that everything has been done and will be done to guarantee the bright future of the capital of all Armenians.
Respectable colleagues, dear guests and friends of Yerevan, I am also grateful to you for your presence and good wishes. There is no doubt that the guarantee of sustainable development of our cities is peace and today, on the event of the birthday of our ancient city I wish that all cities develop under this guarantee and make this development serve to the welfare of our residents. Congratulating one another let's say: “happy birthday, the City of the Sun! Happy birthday, Yerevan!”, said Taron Margaryan.
