Taron Margaryan awards the winners of the 2nd International Chess Tournament “Yerevan open”
Yerevan Mayor, the president of Yerevan Chess Federation Taron Margaryan was present at the ceremony of closing the international chess tournament “Yerevan open” held for the second time. it should be noted that 150 chess players from 13 countries applied for the tournament among which were 20 international Grandmasters and 25 FIDE masters.
The winners of “Yerevan open” were awarded by Yerevan Mayor, president of Yerevan Chess Federation Taron Margaryan.
According to the results of the tournament held from 18 to 27 of September, the first place got the representative of Armenia Karen Grigoryan, the second place got te representative of Iran Amin Tabatabey, and the third place-the representative of Armenia Arman Mikaelyan.
Within the frames of the tournament, besides the main prizes the winners got other presents in various nominations
In his greeting speech Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan congratulated those present on the event of the victory of Yerevan Honorary Citizen, International Grandmaster Levon Aronyan in World Chess Cup.
“It’s a great honour to have a chess player who upholds the honour of our country in various prestigious tournaments and in the World Cup. I’d also like to congratulate the winners of “Yerevan open” We should gladly outline that this year representatives of 13 countries took part in this tournament and I believe that their number will be increasing from year to year. It obviously depends on the consistent work of Yerevan Chess Federation and we will do our best to ensure it”, said the Mayor of Yerevan.
