Reconstruction Project of the Unfinished Section of the Cascade Complex Launched
A contract has been signed between the Yerevan Municipality and GTB Development LLC for the realization of the Cascade Cultural Hub project, which envisions the reconstruction of the unfinished section of the Cascade complex.
The project envisions a 1,000-seat concert hall and a contemporary art museum with newly designed exhibition halls, creating a cultural and entertainment hub spanning approximately 30,000 square meters.
During his welcome speech, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan stated:
“Dear residents of Yerevan, about a year ago we initiated the reconstruction project of the unfinished section of the Cascade complex. At that time, many people were skeptical that this initiative would ever reach completion. Today, we are advancing a project that has been left unfinished for decades.
The launch of the Cascade project demonstrates that the state, the community, and the private sector can work together to achieve long-term results. Nearly a year later, we are, for the first time, at a stage where we can officially announce that the implementation of the Cascade Cultural Hub project is underway.
I would like to extend my gratitude to our partners in the Government, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, our colleagues at GTB Holdings, and the architectural community for their discussions and professional insights. Special thanks to the families of Jim Torosyan and Sargis Gurzadyan for their support, and to Mr. Aslan Mkhitaryan for his advice and constructive engagement. My gratitude also goes to Mr. Wilmotte, who is not only an architect of international recognition but also deeply respects the city’s history, Jim Torosyan’s original vision, and the distinctive character of Yerevan.
To all our partners whose dedicated work has brought us to this moment—thank you. And it is important to emphasize the benefits this project will provide for the citizens of Yerevan: it will enrich urban life with new cultural events, create vibrant public open spaces, and offer a significantly improved and revitalized environment.”
