Since April 1 about 2135 drinking water fountains existing in the capital have been re-operated. In 2012, within the complex program worked out on the instruction of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan, improvement and re-operation of drinking water fountains in the capital was started.
With the aim of improving and operating these unique symbols of eternity in Yerevan the drinking water fountains in the central and secondary streets, parks and squares have been inventoried and it will make it possible to bring into proper state the fountains which had been neglected for years and lost their significance. As a result of the implementation of this program all drinking water fountains in the capital have been repaired and re-operated. In the context of proportional development of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan instructed to include the yard areas in the program of complex improvement of drinking water fountains.
