Yerevan's Historic Red Bridge Reopens After Restoration

17.11.2025

Yerevan’s oldest bridge, the Red Bridge, dating back to the 17th century, has officially reopened following restoration work carried out through a public-private partnership.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister Arayik Harutyunyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, Head of the EU Delegation and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Vassilis Maragos, along with numerous invited guests, toured the restored site and reviewed the completed work.

The restoration project for the centuries-old bridge was designed with the intention of preserving all its valuable elements and historical layers.

“I am sure that this site will attract both city residents and visitors. This stands as one of the best examples of a public-private partnership focused on preserving cultural heritage,” Mayor Avinyan noted.

The reopening of Yerevan’s oldest bridge also marked the final event of the “European Heritage Days 2025” program, which brought together visitors to experience the city’s culture, music, and historical legacy.
