During the press conference Yerevan Deputy Mayor Tigran Virabyan presented the program of the New Year events.

The “New Year 2020” events start at 20:00 on December 21 in Republic square where the lights of the New Year Tree will be on. The first show of an interesting musical is expected as well. On the same day the Christmas Fair will be opened in the park after 2750th anniversary of Yerevan. Exciting events for children and grown-ups will be held here every day.
On December 31, at 22:00, the concert will start in Republic square. The premiere of the song created specially for “Yerevan 2020” events will be held during the concert. The Armenia’s Prime Minister’s New Year live address will be presented in Republic square after the concert. And at midnight, the townspeople and guests of the capital will enjoy famous Goran Bregovic and the orchestra.
According to the Deputy Mayor, this year Republic square will have a new-style decoration. People can approach the Christmas Tree along a special bridge connecting the square with the park of 2750th anniversary of Yerevan foundation. On January 5 a special program for children will be held. The festive events are over on January 13.
According to Tigran Virabyan, during the last two years the Municipality of Yerevan didn’t increase the expenses for the New Year events.
“In 2017 New Year expenditures made 199 million 46 thousand drams, in 2018-167 million 860 thousand drams and in 2019-158 million 512 thousand drams. It means that the costs have been cut by about 40 million drams. The amount of 271 million disbursed by the Government will be aimed at the organization of the festive events in Republic square and other areas. Yerevan budget disbursed 54 million for this purpose. Goran Bregovic and the orchestra’s performance at the New Year nights costs 65 thousand euro”, informed vice-Mayor Tigran Virabyan.
