Armenia, Yerevan. From year to year this touristic destination is becoming more and more desired.

Getting to know 2801-year-old Yerevan starts from “Zvartnots” airport. For the citizens of more than 80 countries visiting Armenia requires no visa or is in a simplified procedure.

The city authorities do their best to ensure the comforts and safety of visitors. The Municipality of Yerevan is working out new programs for the development of infrastructures.
A few days ago Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan familiarized himself with the rooted problems at the airport.
The direction of our further cooperation has been outlined. We spoke about the existing problems and the ways of their solution. It particularly refers to public transport and taxis”, said the deputy director of “Armenia” international airports CJSC Sergey Avetisyan.
In winter the number of tourists is usually not so big, but this year it was actually unprecedented. “New Year in Republic Square” project attracted numerous tourists to Yerevan. Where to go? What to see? Information centers help tourists to get oriented in the city. Free maps, booklets in different languages are provided.
“In 2019 out two information centers served 37 thousand tourists in comparison with 26 thousand in 2018”, informed the head of tourism division of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Yerevan Gevorg Orbelyan.
The Municipality intends to open an information centre at the airport. There are other projects as well.
“We are going to put into operation visityerevan platform which will be useful for tourists”,said Gevorg Orbelyn.
During the recent years Yerevan is also developing as a city of events and festivals. The year of 2019 was full of such events.
The information on how many tourists visited Yerevan in 2019 and on festive days is still being processed.
According to the head of marketing promotion department of the Tourism Committee Gohar Aloyan, within 9 months there was 14% increase in visits, which makes up 3.1 million visits 1.6 of which were tourists.

Yerevan is mostly visited by tourists from Russia, then comes Georgia and Iran.
A few days ago the first budget air company “RyanAir” had its first landing in Yerevan from Milan. Soon there will be 17 directions instead of 7.
Tourists choose Yerevan both for family recreation and for couple traveling as well as for friendship meetings.
Yerevan can suit any pocket and is convenient both for luxury and more affordable rest.

Museums of Yerevan also promote tourism and help get more familiar with the city,its history and culture. The number of visits to the municipal museums has increased as well. Only the Erebuni museum-reserve had 32.800 visitors in 2019 which is 6 thousand more than in 2018. 13 thousand of them were tourists.

“This year we are going to have audio-guides and free transfer to Erebuni museum, Karmir Blur and Shengavit archeological sites”, said the director of Erebuni museum Mikael Badalyan.
For extreme tourism enthusiasts Yerevan offers the longest zipline of the region.։
The recreation centres,clubs and cafes are ready to host guests of the city. Tourists also have become interested in visiting the opera, theaters and national music.
