“Erebuni-Yerevan 2800” festive events have been completed with the gala-concert in Republic square
The series of festive events started in the capital since early morning have been completed in Republic square with a gala-concert. Hundreds of Yerevanians, guests of the capital, representatives of legislative and executive authorities, members of the Council of Elders, Yerevan mayor and the Municipality staff took part in the final concert. Congratulating everyone on the 2800th anniversary of Yerevan foundation Hayk Marutyan in particular said:
‘Dear Yerevanians, our capital has become 2800 years old. It is a great honour for me to be standing here on this historical day and representing Yerevan, representing you. Actually, my dear friends, e don’t realize how lucky and happy we are. Today we are standing on our native land and celebrating the 2800th anniversary of our capital. We are lucky to be Yerevanians. I have said many times that Yerevanians are those who consider Yerevan their home. Yerevan is the capital of all Armenians. I am proud to be Yerevanian, proud to be one of you, proud to be celebrating the jubilee of our ancient capital city. So many hardships encountered out capital but today it is standing proudly and looking forward. I was asked today what the best present for Yerevan’s birthday is. And I can definitely say that the best present are the townspeople themselves, the warmth of all Armenians, free and proud people who have been able to get freedom and put a basis for new democracy. It is impossible to image a better present as our children will live in Yerevan. Dear co-citizens, I cordially congratulate you, all Armenians worldwide. I love you, Yerevan!”
The gala-concert included performances about Yerevan, dramatized historical events. The festive evening was completed with the firework.
