Treaty of Friendship signed between Yerevan and Qingdao

The Treaty of Friendship has been signed between Yerevan and Qingdao. By this document the two cities agree to develop cooperation in the fields of culture, education, health care, tourism and other spheres of economy.

During the distance meeting the First Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Levon Hovhannisyan and the First Deputy Mayor of Qingdao Liu Jianjun discussed certain actions and perspectives of cooperation between the two cities. The leader of “My Step” faction of the Council of Elders of Yerevan Armen Galjyan, the secretaries of “Prosperous Armenia” and “Luys” factions Markos Harutyunyan and Ani Khachatryan participated in the meeting as well.

The Ambassador of Armenia to China H.E. Mr. Sergey Manasaryan and the Ambassador of China to Armenia H.E.Mr. Fan Yong took part in the ceremony of signing as a representative of Qingdao.

Expressing gratitude for cooperation willingness the First Deputy Mayor expressed confidence that the treaty will create the opportunity to implement more practical programs in various spheres of urban economy.

Levon Hovhannisyan marked that China and Armenia have had friendly relations for centuries and the memorandum signed today is another proof of our mutual willingness to strengthen the existing friendly relations. The document involves a number of interesting directions for cooperation between the cities. As many other cities Yerevan encounters diverse challenges and is interested in experience exchange with Qingdao.

The First Deputy Mayor of Qingdao Liu Jianjun in his turn stated that the treaty will give a new impetus to the cooperation development in different spheres.

“China and Armenia have had diplomatic relationship for 30 years and it is highly important that today we are laying a foundation for collaboration at the level of cities and local authorities. I believe that joining efforts we will reach complete implementation of the document”, marked Liu Jianjun.

During the meeting the ambassadors carrying out their missions in Armenia and China made speeches as well.
