Yerevan to Carry on Cooperation with EBRD

  Yerevan deputy Mayor Suren Grigoryan hosted the delegation of European Bank of Reconstruction and Development and discussed the cooperation perspectives with the members of the delegation.
Outlining the long and successful cooperation with the EBRD in the sphere of urban infrastructure development, Suren Grigoryan stressed that in cooperation with the Government the EBRD makes investments in the Underground modernization, energy efficiency and public transport. In particular, due to the cooperation it has become possible to complete the bus fleet of the capital with 87 modern “green” buses.
“Taking into account the volumes of transport reforms in Yerevan and their perspective agenda, the program of electric mobility of Yerevan is under development: procurement of 250 electric buses, construction of filling stations and other relevant activities. The program has a serious environmental component. Negotiations are going on with international partners. We intend to implement this program in cooperation with the EBRD”, stressed Suren Grigoryan adding that currently Yerevan is hosting the annual assembly and the investment forum of the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, and the former deputy Prime Minister and Armenia’s Governor at EBRD Tigran Avinyan presently Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan contributed to the organization of the event.
Head of “Infra-Eurasia” Infrastructure Group of EBRD Ekaterina Miroshnik outlined the program priorities and importance of cooperation continuity.
The problem of the Underground development and modernization of existing stock was discussed during the meeting as well.
