Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan hosted the Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo who arrived in Armenia with an official visit. The First Deputy Mayor Levon Hovhannisyan, the leader of “My Step” faction of the Council of Elders Armen Galjyan, the leader of “Prosperous Armenia” faction Mikael Manrikyan, the leader of “Luys” faction David Khazhakyan and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to France H.E.Ms Hasmik Tolmajyan participated in the extended meeting.

Greeting his French colleague, Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan stressed that Yerevan highly appreciates cooperation expansion with its partner cities and regions of France and that Paris is of particular significance in this regard.

“Ms Hidalgo, you have been to Yerevan many times and this fat proves your special attitude to our capital and the bilateral relations. Within the framework of the International Association of Francophone Mayors (AIMF) we have certain progress and in near future we plan to implement new programs. I’d like to express particular gratitude for the support shown during the war of 2020. We attach great importance to the organization of the forums of the Decentralized Cooperation, and I am going to take part in the regular forum to be held in Lyon in June”, stressed the Mayor of Yerevan and expressed confidence that the visit of Paris Mayor will give a new impetus to cooperation expansion between the two capitals and to the implementation of new programs.
Having thanked for warm welcome Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo marked that there is actually a wide field for cooperation between the capitals of Armenia and France, which will make it possible to expand joint projects.

“The relationship between Yerevan and Paris and extremely tight, and this is my third visit to Yerevan. We have already had numerous programs implemented: inspired by the Yerevan model we have managed to open the “TUMO” centre in Paris. Today we intend to expand our cooperation particularly in the field of protection of cultural heritage and Yerevan’s participation in this direction will be comprehensive. I really love Yerevan an I am happy that today we are laying bases for new programs with Yerevan”, said the Mayor of Paris.

During the meeting the parties also exchanged thoughts about the implementation of current and perspective projects.
