Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan participates in Summit of Mayors for Climate held in Abidjan
On the invitation of Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan participated in the Summit of Mayors for Climate held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The event united representatives of nearly 400 world cities. In the recent years, Yerevan has taken significant steps aimed at climate change mitigation, energy efficiency, renewable energy and climate adaptation. Yerevan Mayor made his speech during the ceremony of closing. Emphasizing the importance of Yerevan’s participation in such authoritative event, Hrachya Sargsyan expressed gratitude to the organizers for the possibility of experience exchange on the international platforms.
“Acknowledging the complexities of different political, economic and developmental impediments, it is our core responsibility to raise the bar on climate action within the frame of COP27. I would like to extend my gratitude to the organizers for all their efforts and for having this wonderful and motivating event as well as for the new opportunities of cooperation”, said the Mayor.
