22.11.2022

At today’s meeting the Council of Elders determined the areas allowed for organization of technical and special significance fireworks, as well as the requirements and conditions related to them. The project was introduced by Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan, who noted that there are two areas in Yerevan meeting the established requirements where fireworks can be organized: Republic square and Freedom square (Azatutyan). Fireworks will be allowed in these spots only on holidays, on the initiative of the local and state governance bodies. Private fireworks will be prohibited in Yerevan. Deputy Mayor Avonyan added that taking into account the possibility of special, exclusive events, fireworks can be allowed in case of the Mayor’s permission. Yerevan Council of Elders unanimously voted for the project. To give the problem a comprehensive solution there is a legislative package which has been put into operation today: import of fireworks raw materials will be prohibited except for certificated organizations.
