A new sanitary sewer is being installed in Noragavit quarter of Yerevan. It should be noted that this quarter consists of detached houses and never used to have a separate sewer.

A new system of 1200 linear metres is going to serve 400 houses.
Within the frames of this year’s program the Municipality of Yerevan is going to construct the sewer of 4,8 km. 343 million drams was disbursed from the community budget to implement it. The volumes of this year’s work are 3,5 times more than that of the previous year.
The program includes the most vulnerable locations in Shengavit, Malatia-Sebastia, Arabkir, Kentron and Davtashen districts.

“Together with elevators the problem of sewers is of the highest priority for the city as it makes the preservation and operation of blocks of flats rather complicated. The most vulnerable locations where the problem needed urgent solution were chosen”, stressed Mayor’s Advisor Kamo Areyan.

According to the head of Davtashen district Mikael Tumasyan, there was always stench, sewage clogging in Davtashen 1 quarter, but now 4 blocks of flats and surrounding economy entities will have a new sewer line. It is not the only location with similar problem in Davtashen. Thus, the old metallic rusty pipes are replaced to help people get rid of this unpleasant problem.
According to the head of Communal Services department of the City Hall Arsen Karoyan, this month a number of sewers are going to be put into operation.
The problem of new sewers is essential. The studies and inventory showed that the main part of the system is badly damaged and needs repairing and about 120 km of new sewer pipes are to be installed in the areas where no sewage existed before.
