Water fun throughout Yerevan

Within the frames of the three-month program of events “Yerevan summer 2016”, in accordance with the plan worked out in advance, the actions dedicated to Water fest (Vardavar) have been held in all administrative districts of the capital. The festive events started with the parade of water sprinkling trucks and with washing of monuments.

In Avan administrative district the festive events started early in the morning at Holy Mother of God church with the liturgy dedicated to Transfiguration fest; and in Family park like in the parks of Isahakyan, Duryan and Kuchak residential areas appropriate events such as water games were held.
In the yards of Arabkir district additional amounts of water were provided by water sprinkling trucks and children were given water sprinkling toys and buckets.
In Central park of Davtashen district people were pouring water at one another, doves-symbols of peace were flown into the sky; water sprinkling toys were given to children; treatment was organized.
In Erebuni district a movable theatrical performance was held. In the local children and youth creative center a concert program was held and the play blessed by priest Ter Zgon was staged.
In Kentron district, in the courtyard of Surb Zoravor church a concert with the participation of the pupils of the art school after Kushnaryan was held.
Water games were also held in Nor Nork district where water trucks distributed additional amounts of water. At Surb Sargis church in Nor Nork the ceremony of water blessing was served and water games followed it.
In Nork Marash district the celebration was held in 7th,15th and 17th streets of Nork. Folk and ritual songs sounded in the area of the administrative building of the district.
In Nubarashen, at Srbots Nahatakats church a holy liturgy was served and water games were held afterwards. The children were given buckets beforehand.
In Kanaker Zeytun district, water games were held in David Anhakht park.
So, Water fest was marked everywhere. And adults were often even more active than children.
The main events were held in the main water areas of the capital- at Swan’s Lake and at the fountains of Republic square. Numerous townspeople and guests of the capital took part in the fest.
