Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan who is in France with an official visit on the event of the 25th anniversary of signing Friendship and Cooperation Agreement between Yerevan and Marseille met with the President of the Council of the French Department Bouches-du-Rhone Martine Vassal. Expressing gratitude for warm welcome Mayor Taron Margaryan noted that Yerevan Municipality attaches particular importance to cooperation expansion with the partner cities and regions of France stressing that they had already achieved successful cooperation with some of them.

“As you know we have been cooperating with Marseille for 25 years and I should outline that within that time numerous joint projects were carried out. Madam Vassal, applying the progressive international experience and modern technologies in urban economy management as well as encouragement of foreign investments are priority tasks for us. I assure you that Yerevan has got a big potential for cooperation and we are ready to discuss the possibilities of interactions with Bouches-du-Rhone department”, said Taron Margaryan and offered to form a working group which will outline possible directions of cooperation and work out the complex program of cooperation. Expressing gratitude for the visit the President of the Council of French Department Bouches-du-Rhone Madam Martine Vassal in her turn attaché importance to further strengthening and expansion of Armenian-French relations and assured that she would do her best within her powers to promote establishment of bilateral ties.
“Mister Mayor, I am sincerely glad to welcome you in Marseille. As you know, Marseille is the center of Bouches-du-Rhone Department, and it’s a pleasure to outline that the cooperation between the two cities is becoming more strengthened and developed. To tell the truth, before our today’s meeting I decided to offer you to establish possible cooperation with Bouches-du-Rhone Department, and now I am doubly delighted that our opinions coincide. Be sure that I am ready to do my best to outline cooperation directions and to start bilateral interaction soon”, said Martine Vassal.
At the end of the meeting Mayor Taron Margaryan invited the President of the Council of French Department Bouches-du-Rhone Madam Martine Vassal to visit Yerevan next year and to participate in jubilee events dedicated to the 2800th anniversary of foundation of the capital of Armenia.
