Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan welcomed the leader of the EU Delegation in the Republic of Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Switalski.
Greeting the guest the Mayor noted that Yerevan Municipality has always collaborated with the Delegation of the European Union in Armenia, particularly within the framework of a number of EU financed programs such as alternative energy, environment protection, wastes removal and recycling and others. The Mayor stated that such programs make it possible to get new partners and carry out experience exchange.
Ambassador Switalski congratulated Hayk Marutyan and his team on winning in the elections for the Council of Elders stressing that they can become a good ground for making democratic elections in Armenia traditional. Piotr Switalksi in his turn stressed the importance of implementation of EU financed programs in Yerevan emphasizing that the potential is not used completely. The EU Ambassador suggested taking the cooperation with the city authorities to a new, higher level. Mayor Marutyan expressed willingness to expand the cooperation and assured that the Europe Days to be held in spring will be unprecedented in their organization.
The parties also exchanged souvenirs.
