Regular meeting of Yerevan Council of Elders
To ensure more effective sanitary cleaning in the capital it was decided to add 200 employees to approximately 300 people providing cleanness in 12 administrative districts. During today’s meeting the Council of Elders confirmed that draft decision. Structural changes are going to be made in the community-owned “Waste removal and sanitary cleaning of Yerevan” company to provide effective management and to set permanent control over activities.

Mayisyan street in Kentron administrative district will be named after eminent theatre and cinema actor, USSR and Arm.SSR People’s Artist Khoren Abrahamyan.The Council of Elders also approved of the draft decisions to name Nubarashen 13th street “Nor Dzmyurnia” and the road segment from Bagrevand street to Tevosyan street after distinguished surgeon, cardiologist, Doctor of Medicine, Professor Alexander Mikaelyan.

By the decision of the Council memorial boards will be installed in certain parts of the capital to commemorate the playwright, founder of the radio theater Grigor Chalikyan; the RA Distinguished Art Figure Sergey Aghajanyan; the Doctor of Medicine, Professor, the Arm.SSR Distinguished Scientist Partev Margaryan; the Arm.SSR People’s Artist, Professor Laert Vagharshyan; the historian, state, public and political figure Lyudvig Gharibjanyan and the eminent poet, laureate of state prize, the RA Distinguished Figure in Culture David Hovhannes.

To boost sport life in the city and manage it efficiently Yerevan community initiated a number of structural and conceptual changes in the field. One of the issues on the agenda referred to changing the division for sport and youth affairs of Yerevan Municipality into department. This way it will become possible to implement effective programs in the fields of sport, physical culture and youth affairs.
Touching upon upcoming activities Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Gevorg Simonyan informed about two important initiatives. The sport schools of Ajapnyak and Erebuni districts organize their activities in secondary schools and in private areas as they don’t have their own territories. To settle the problem certain step are being taken to select a plot in Ajapnyak and Erebuni to build new sport schools.

By the Council’s decision 22 million 330 thousand drams will be disbursed from the budget of Yerevan to settle the citizens who came to Armenia as a result of war in permanent places of residence.

The next regular meeting of the Council of Elders of Yerevan is scheduled for May 24.
