Saturday clean-up in Shengavit district
By the initiative of Yerevan Municipality each Saturday clean up actions will be organized in administrative districts. Today sanitary cleaning was organized simultaneously in 15 most polluted areas.The staffs of Yerevan Municipality and administrative districts as well as community establishments, MES employees and numerous residents joined the action to clean up the city.
Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan accompanied by the head of Shengavit district Razmik Mkrtchyan walked about the areas, asked about the causes of rubbish accumulation in these areas and stressed that efforts should be joined to solve the problem.
“A clean up action once a year or barely municipal resources are unable to settle the problem and ensure proper cleanness. Thus, such Saturday clean-up actions should be continuative. Actually, such initiatives cost the Municipality lots of financial means, however it is essential that every citizen understand it and try to have their contribution to cleaning up the city. We intend to organize Saturday clean-up activities in all administrative districts”, stressed the Mayor.
Approximately 50 units of special machinery were used in the action.
