During the weekly working meeting in the City Hall which was chaired by Mayor Taron Margaryan it was reported that the urban development programs are going on in accordance with the schedule. In particular, the construction of wheelchair ramps is going on in the capital. The program of Yerevan Municipality of 2016 has provided for the construction of 270 ramps about 100 of which have already been constructed. During the construction and after it, besides the persons in charge the work done is checked by the representatives of NGOs. Appreciating the consistent fulfillment Mayor Taron Margaryan however noted that in some cases the ramps constructed by entities don’t correspond with the standards.

“Sometimes we can see that economy entities just construct the ramps so as to meet the requirement of having ramps formally and they don’t show any consistence in the practical use of the ramps. And it’s inacceptable. Rigid control should be set in this regard and in case of small deviation from determined norms to take appropriate measures to eliminate the deviation. If necessary, provide entities with consulting and suggest corresponding solutions so that the construction wasn’t of formal character”, said Taron Margaryan and instructed the work in teamwork with the Road police to exclude cases of car parking at the ramps.
During the meeting the head of the Department of Building and Improvement reported that repairing of holes and cracks in the streets and sidewalks is going on. The Mayor instructed to control the process particularly regarding liquidation of holes.
“We have set a concrete task-to finish the process of holes repairing in the capital. I am sure that if we are more demanding at least in a year there will be no more holes in Yerevan”, said Taron Margaryan.
During the meeting it was also reported that within the frames of cooperation between Yerevan Municipality and the private sector the second stage of the reconstruction of the park of Main avenue between Mashtots avenue and Saryan street will be carried on in a few days. It was informed that the program was temporally stopped because of the process of importing the equipment for fountains. Taron Margaryan instructed to inform the public regularly about the process of implementation.
