Tigran Avinyan elected Yerevan Deputy Mayor: Council of Elders approved of draft decision

The first item of the agenda of the special meeting of the Council of Elders called on September 23 was the election of the Deputy of Yerevan Mayor. The Council approved of the candidacy of Tigran Avinyan to this post. Congratulating the new vice Mayor on taking the office Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan expressed hope that Avinyan’s experience in the system of state government will make it possible to solve the problems rooted in the capital more effectively.
Having thanked for the confidence, Tigran Avinyan referred to the situation at the RA state boundaries stressing that Azerbaijan’s aggression should never make us feel desperate but urge us to be more vigilant and diligent in work. “The heroism of our soldiers must make us feel responsible to work and create, to strengthen our army and our country, to develop our economy. Actually, resistance and struggle have no alternative for us presently”.
The new Deputy Mayor shall coordinate the spheres of building improvement and greening, culture as well as the programs with administrative districts and the executive.
“We have a lot of work ahead as the cit needs new technological and system solutions. A person touring Yerevan should feel in harmony with the surroundings. The city can become comfortable for people due to one simple principle- dominance of public interest over a private one. All problems should be solved following this formula”, noted T. Avinyan.

Another issue of the agenda referred to granting the undeveloped land plot at Cascade complex owned by “Cafesjian Museum” foundation to Yerevan community to complete the construction process. Mayor Sargsyan noted that they intend to build the new building of Modern Art Museum in this area and to have a new amphitheatre which will contribute to activation of cultural life.
“I’d like to thank all those people who have participated in this process and to “Cafesjian Museum” foundation for the gift. We will work with a tem of architects to get the right proposal and to complete the construction”, stressed the Mayor.

The Council also decided on increasing the current purposeful allocations in the income part of Yerevan budget of 2022 by AMD 13,630.0 thousand which will be directed to resettlement of the citizens temporarily residing in the Republic of Armenia as a result of the war.

Within the frames of the “EU4Yerevan: Solar Community” program, the photovoltaic solar panels placed on 97 community-owned blocks of flats, the LED lamps placed at porches and staircases and the courtyard systems of lighting with the nominal value estimated as AMD 448.394.005.00 have been given to 41 condominiums serving the mentioned above blocks of flats with the right of free use valid for 20 years. It should be noted that sue to the program it became possible to save financial means.

By the decision of the Council, the procedure of giving permissions envisaged by the law “On Local Duties and Fees” has been determined. Accordingly, the following problems will be solved; no permissions for commerce will be given in the buildings which have no legal status, in the areas of public significance; besides, no permissions will be given to economy entities who have unfulfilled financial obligations towards Yerevan. The procedure will come into power since January 1, 2023.
