Revenue Collection to Yerevan Budget in 2022 Makes Up 102.4%: Council of Elders Confirms Report on Budget Performance

Prior to the 100th birthday of the National Hero of Armenia, singer, composer, poet, actor, public figure Charles Aznavour Yerevan Council of Elders made a decision to install a monument to the great chansonnier in Yerevan. The draft decision was presented by Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan who informed that the copy of the monument will be placed in Paris which will draw a greater interest towards Armenian art of sculpture. As a result of discussions it was decided to install the monument in the central part of Square of France and the design and architectural ideas will be implemented afterwards, and the sculpture of Jules Bastien-Lepage by August Rodin will be replaced to another part of Square of France. The current position of the valuable sculpture is not favourable from the point of view of visibility. Bringing the sculpture by Rodin closer to the sidewalk will make it possible to see it better and to enjoy the precious work of art.

The revenue collection of Yerevan budget in 2022 made up 102.4% and the expenditures performance  - 85.1% which is a real achievement since 2017. First Deputy Mayor Levon Hovhannisyan who was presented the draft decision marked that due to proper budget planning, legislative and structural changes the community was able to achieve such results. Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan stressed the importance of non-cash payments outlining that to ensure more efficient and fast servicing the residents the community created several platforms which in their turn benefited to budget entries. Electronic platforms have made it more convenient for residents to make their payments. Yerevan Municipality intends to carry on digitalization of services provided for residents as it helps increase the effectiveness of work organization, set supervision and make decisions more rapidly.

The Council of Elders also confirmed the report on budget performance in 2022. Particular importance was attached to purchase of 252 new public transport vehicles (87 “Man” buses, 150 “Zhong Tong” buses and 15 trolleybuses) to arrange a new itinerary network; the activities aimed at installation of the unified ticket system which are going to start this year:  the competition was held in 2023 and there is a winner; the Argavand-Shirak road segment  was put into operation; a new road connecting Aram Khachatryan and Mamikonyants street was built; overhauling of preschools was fulfilled due to the support of partner organization and the community financing; overhauling of two policlinics was initiated; 467 elevators were replaced with new ones in blocks of flats. With the aim of a new metro station construction in Ajapnyak district, in August of 2022 the “Metrogiprotrans” company submitted the results and preliminary reports of the 1st stage of design and estimate documents which involved two  design versions. Accordingly, after the complete version is ready the construction activities will take approximately 4 years.
It should be noted that before submitting the budget implementation reports to the Council of Elders, it was brought to public discussion during the open hearing in the City Hall.

 Yerevan school N116 has been renamed after the participant of the Four-day war Samvel Hovsepyan (Admiral Samvel). The council approved of the draft decision.

SSR and USSR People’s Artist Henrik Malyan; 47th street in Arabkir – after the well-known Armenian movie and theatre actor, USSR People’s Artist Sos Sargsyan, 38th street in Arabkir – after architect Anna Ter-Avetikyan; 12th street in Nerqin Shengavit – after movie, TV and theatre actor Armen Khostikyan, 1st street of Nerqin Shengavit – after poet Hovhannes Grigoryan, 27th  street in Arabkir – after poet, translator Maro Margaryan; 41st street in Arabkir – after poet, public figure Armenuhi Tigranyan; 53rd street in Arabkir – after writer, poet Elen Byuzand; Nork 9th street in Nork-Marash district – after sculptor, Arm.SSR People’s artist Sargis Baghdasaryan and Nork 8th street – after painter, Arm.SSR People’s Artist Eduard Isabekyan.

The session was followed by the Q&A. The members of the Council addressed their questions to the Mayor, to the heads of administrative districts and heads of the municipal subdivisions.
