Inspection pits to be leveled with roads to make traffic safer

01.11.2021

The inspection pits in Yerevan streets have become a real headache particularly for drivers. Shabby lids and subsidence of asphalt seriously hinder safe traffic. The problem is under the responsibility of the companies engaged in communication, sewage and other services which manage and use the inspection pits however the community had to undertake the solution of the problem taking into account the real menace to traffic safety. On Yerevan Mayor’s instruction, the program of leveling inspection pits with roads and replacement of old shabby lids with new ones has been initiated.

According to the head of Yerevan Municipality Department of Building and Improvement Grigor Haurtyunyan, the problem causes lots of complaints yet it is actually beyond the responsibility of the Municipality. It is within the liabilities of “Veolia Jur”, companies and economy entities using water who are the owners of all facilities: wrought iron hatches, covers and so on.
The program mainly involves the manholes in the city centre and requires more than 68 million drams to be disbursed from the community budget.
