“Reading Yerevan” exhibition-fair has opened in Yerevan City Hall

Within the frames of “Yerevan summer 2016” program, on the event of Holy Translators’ Feast (Targmanchats) the exhibition-fair “Reading Yerevan” opened in the City Hall.

Deputy Mayor Aram Sukiasyan was present at the event too. Greeting those present Deputy Mayor outlined that “Yerevan summer” program traditionally include various events dedicated to books and literature, and it’s symbolic that it’s the second time they have coincided with Holy Translators’ Feast.
“In 2012, after declaration Yerevan World Book Capital, we continually participate in various worldwide events and Biennale trying to uphold Yerevan’s fame, which certainly brings results. In accordance with the statistical data, the number of readers at libraries has increased by 10-12 %. It’s an important and pleasing fact which is a result of a number of measures one of which is the municipal program of complete repairing of libraries”, said Aram Sukiasyan.
More than 10 publishing companies and book stores are represented at the exhibition-fair: Armenian and foreign fiction literature, spiritual, special,children's literature, translations.
“In recent years the publishers pay much attention to children's literature,particularly to the quality of books, their being eco-friendly. A new culture related to literature is formed which is very important and pleasing”, said Aram Sukiasyan.
Exclusive editions telling about Yerevan which are kept in special conditions in Yerevan History Museum are displayed at the exhibition too.
Book presentations will be organized during the exhibition. The event will also include reciting. “Reading Yerevan” project will be continued with a concert with the participation of poets,singers,composers and reciters.
The exhibition-fair is open on June 15 and 16.Admission is free.
