To spend the festive day with townspeople and guests of the capital Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan walked about the capital. The Mayor walked in Erebuni street which was turned into a big open-air national stage and accompanied by townspeople watched the shows of handicraft, national games national costumes and cuisine and congratulated everybody on the event. 

During the reception held in Yerevan City hall on the event of the 2798th anniversary of Yerevan, Mayor Taron Margaryan expressed gratitude to the persons carrying out many-year effective activity in various spheres, those employees who have had significant contribution to the achievements of the capital and have done and are going to do their best to make Yerevan better.

By the decree of the President of the Republic, on the event of Yerevan day, for effective and conscientious work Yerevan Deputy Mayor Vahe Nikoyan Yerevan Municipality Staff Secretary Sergey Makaryan, Yerevan Mayor's Advisor Arayik Kotanjyan, the head of Avan administrative district Manvel Javadyan, the head of Davtashen administrative district Ruslan Baghdasaryan were awarded with “Anania Shirakatsi” medal.

On Yerevan Day the square opposite the City Hall was given to little residents of the capital where they could express their love for Yerevan in their pictures drawn with coloured chalks. Most of the drawings were dedicated to Yerevan- the City of the Sun: the pictures were full of sun, smiles and colourful flowers.

Within the framework of Yerevan day events show of retro cars was organized in Shahumyan square. About thirty retro cars of various makes and date of production were shown there. Some of the cars on the show have won various international prizes.
